Leprechaun catching

So Max has become a little sceptical about good old Mr. Claus and other things of the sort...but not leprechauns. One year they broke into our kitchen and turned all of kitchen chairs over as a joke on us and from that time on, the tradition has just gotten a little bit better each year.

This year we made our first leprechaun trap...and Max LOVED making this. He speculated for a long time over whether we would really pull a fast one over on these little guys...here he is constructing the trap itself and a photo of the actual trap. I love that Max is getting big enough to be a good help and a virtual little adult at times but that he is still little enough to have lots of imagination and a zest for life when it comes to traditions like this.

Of course even though in my last sentence I talked about how grown up Max has become he still hasn't lost the knack to be of comedic relief when someone in our family is either sick or blue. Recently when riding in the car with his crabby mom (ME) he was trying with out much luck to cajole me out of bad mood and he then grabbed our old cell phone charger hooking it through a loop in the door handle and then hooking the other side over his ear and the plug by his mouth...pretending to be on a CB radio he then began to talk as if he were really a trucker on a CB Radio...what came next was a classic Maxism; he began to say "3 dasher dasher, come in. Talk to me 3 dasher dasher" It was so goofy and funny that of course I laughed myself right out of the grump I was in. Yesterday while we were at the Dr. for Colty (who had a double ear infection) as Colty was laying solemnly on the table waiting for the Dr. to return, Max came to the rescue with lots of jokes to keep us all laughing.

The photo of Colty (ie; Indiana Jones) is just because he hasn't been dressing up in his Doctor Jones Garb lately, and when he wanted to one day, I just felt the need to snap a photo to capture him doing this before it is gone by the way side with all of the other phases of childhood.

My Max LOVED the leprechaun trap! I had told him about the leprechauns turning things upside down in your house and then the leprechauns at our house completely forgot about it. Better luck next year.
